#Таиван: Председник Тсаи захтева ближу економску сарадњу са УК
On 24 January, President Tsai Ing-wen received Britain’s new representative to Taiwan, Catherine Nettleton, at the Presidential Office, saying that Taiwan and the UK should strengthen economic and trade co-operation.
According to President Tsai, there is significant room for greater bilateral economic co-operation in the emerging sectors targeted as key components of her administration’s economic development strategy, such as biotech and pharmaceuticals, green energy, smart industry and Internet of Things.
When meeting with Greg Hands, UK minister of state for trade and investment, and Lord Faulkner, British trade envoy with responsibility for Taiwan in September, President Tsai informed them of opportunities in these sectors. According to the ROC Ministry of Finance, the UK is Taiwan’s third largest trade partner in the EU, with two-way trade totaling €5.2 billion last year.
